SPH-01: Ultra-Compact AIS MOB Device for Maritime & Inland Waterway Safety

The SPH-01 is a cutting-edge AIS Man Overboard (MOB) solution designed to address personnel distress alert requirements in marine and inland waterway environments. Featuring ultra-compact size, ultra-low power consumption, high integration, and cost-effectiveness, this wearable device integrates:

  • CCS/IMO-compliant life jacket strobe lights for enhanced visibility.
  • Dual-mode BDS/GPS positioning for precise location tracking.
  • Complete AIS MOB baseband processor and RF transmission circuitry to broadcast Type 1 (position report) and Type 14 (safety-related) AIS alerts, including personnel/device location and ID data.

Compliance & Standards

The SPH-01 adheres to stringent international and domestic regulations, including:

  • IEC 61097-14 (AIS MOB performance standards)
  • IEC 60945 (maritime navigation equipment standards)
  • ITU-R M.1371-5 (AIS technical specifications)
  • IEC 61108-1 (emergency locator beacon requirements)
  • CCS “Guidelines for Search and Rescue Beacon Inspection” (latest edition, China Classification Society).

Design Philosophy & Applications

Optimized for wearable safety applications, the SPH-01 prioritizes:

  • Miniaturized form factor for seamless integration into life jackets.
  • Power-efficient operation to maximize battery life.
  • High reliability in harsh aquatic environments.
  • Exceptional cost-performance ratio for scalable deployment.

Targeted Scenarios

  • Smart life jackets for crew and recreational boaters.
  • Aquatic rescue robots and unmanned surface vehicles (USVs).
  • Multi-scenario adaptability for offshore platforms, inland ferries, and coastal patrols.

This device represents a breakthrough in affordable, wearable AIS safety solutions, delivering critical distress alerting capabilities without compromising on size, power efficiency, or compliance.

Operation Instructions

Power-On Modes

  1. Auto Power-On (Water-Triggered Activation)
    • When the water-sensitive switch detects immersion for over 2 seconds, the green indicator light illuminates, the device powers on automatically, and the life jacket strobe light activates.
  2. Manual Power-On (Button Activation)
    • Press and hold the power button for 1 second. The red and green lights illuminate simultaneously for 1 second (mixed color). The device powers on, the life jacket light activates, and:
      • Green light flashes once per second: Satellite acquisition in progress (no fix yet).
      • Blue light flashes briefly: One AIS transmission completed.
      • Red light flashes once per second: Low battery warning.

Test Mode (Accessed via Manual Power-On)

  1. Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The red and green lights (mixed color) flash 3 times to enter test mode.
  2. The red light remains solid while awaiting AIS transmission. During transmission:
    • Blue light flashes briefly: Indicates one AIS transmission.
  3. Post-Transmission Results:
    • GPS Not Fixed: Red and green lights (mixed color) flash alternately every 1 second. Flash count corresponds to battery percentage (e.g., 10 flashes for 100%, 9 for 90%, etc.).
    • GPS Fixed: Only the red light flashes every 1 second, with flash count indicating battery percentage (same as above).
  4. The device auto-powers off after testing.

Power-Off Mode (Button-Only Operation)

  1. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds. All three lights (red, green, blue) illuminate for 1 second (mixed color).
  2. Release the button, and the device shuts down.

Life Jacket Light Operation

  1. The life jacket strobe flashes 60 times per minute with each flash lasting ≈330ms. It operates continuously alongside the device until battery depletion.
  2. Optional: Software-configurable to deactivate after 8 hours of continuous operation.

Transmission Power

  1. Conducted Power: Approximately 33dBm (2W) ±1.5dB.
  2. Radiated Power: Accounting for antenna gain (-3 to -6dBi), total radiated power does not exceed 1W (compliant with electromagnetic safety standards).
